How to create a GST tax invoice in Singapore
A practical guide to Singapore GST tax invoices — the fields IRAS lists for full and simplified tax invoices, the 9% GST rate, and where a PDF generator stops short of InvoiceNow submission.
What this generator makes
SimpleTaxInvoice creates a human-readable PDF tax invoice for Singapore GST: your business details, GST registration number, invoice number, issue date, line items, GST-exclusive subtotal, 9% GST and GST-inclusive total.
It is not InvoiceNow / Peppol e-invoicing software and it does not transmit invoice data to IRAS. If your business is subject to the GST InvoiceNow requirement, you also need an InvoiceNow-ready solution to submit invoice data to IRAS.
What a full Singapore tax invoice includes
IRAS's GST: General Guide for Businesses lists these fields for a full tax invoice:
- the words "tax invoice" in a prominent place;
- an identifying number such as an invoice number;
- the date of issue;
- your business name, address and GST registration number;
- your customer's name and address;
- a description sufficient to identify the goods or services and the type of supply;
- the quantity or extent and the amount payable excluding GST;
- any cash discount offered;
- the total excluding GST, the GST rate and the GST amount shown separately;
- the total including GST;
- a separate gross-total breakdown for exempt, zero-rated or other supplies, where those apply.
Simplified tax invoices up to S$1,000
If the total including GST does not exceed S$1,000, IRAS allows a simplified tax invoice with fewer fields. The customer's name is not required, and the invoice should include a statement similar to "Price Payable includes GST". This product does not switch into a simplified-invoice layout; it produces a full tax invoice and explains the simplified option as a guide fact.
Each requirement, checked against this generator
Not a compliance promise — a field-by-field account of what the tool actually prints, so you can verify the output yourself.
"Tax invoice" in a prominent place
The Singapore template prints TAX INVOICE as the document title.
Identifying number
The invoice number prints on every invoice; automatic numbering is available.
Date of issue
The Issue date field prints in Singapore numeric date format.
Seller business name, address and GST registration number
Business name, address and GST registration number print from your Business Profile when entered.
Customer name and address
Bill To details print when entered, but the product does not block a full tax invoice if the address is missing.
Description, quantity or extent, and amount payable excluding GST
Line items print descriptions, quantities, unit prices and GST-exclusive line totals.
Cash discount offered
A whole-invoice discount field is available; it does not print a separate cash-discount-rate field per line.
Total excluding GST, GST rate, GST amount shown separately, and total including GST
Totals show the GST-exclusive subtotal, GST rate, GST amount and GST-inclusive total.
Breakdown of exempt, zero-rated or other supplies
Whole-invoice zero-rated and exempt selections print a clarity statement. A true mix of standard-rated and zero-rated/exempt lines on one invoice is not supported.
Simplified tax invoice wording for totals not exceeding S$1,000
Not a separate mode. The product still produces a full tax invoice and does not print the simplified-invoice statement "Price Payable includes GST" automatically.
IRAS InvoiceNow / Peppol submission
Not supported. The product creates a PDF tax invoice and does not transmit invoice data to IRAS through InvoiceNow.
Customer accounting for prescribed goods / reverse charge
Not supported in SG v1. The product keeps Singapore to standard, zero-rated and exempt whole-invoice treatments.

How GST is calculated
Singapore's standard GST rate is 9% for supplies made on or after 1 January 2024. On an invoice:
- GST-inclusive total = GST-exclusive amount × 1.09;
- GST amount = GST-exclusive amount × 0.09.
The generator does this arithmetic and lets you edit and save rates, because you — not us — own the correct rate and treatment for your sale.
Zero-rated and exempt supplies
Some Singapore supplies are zero-rated (GST at 0%) and some are exempt (no GST charged). This generator applies one treatment across the whole invoice. It does not decide which applies to your sale, and it does not support customer accounting or reverse-charge statements for Singapore v1.
Worked examples — what each treatment prints
The statement printed for each selection, generated live from the same code the generator itself runs — text you can check against your own invoice, not a phrase IRAS prescribes verbatim:
How to pay, printed on the invoice
Your bank details print automatically once set up in your Business Profile — only the fields relevant to your payments, never foreign-bank fields left over from another country.
Ready to make one? The generator pre-fills the GST registration number label, Singapore dollars and a 9% GST rate, keeps a running invoice number, and stores your work on your device by default.
